Fantastic Places to Visit Outside of Zone 1 on the Jubilee Line

The Jubilee Line on the London Underground network is the third busiest line, running from Stanmore to Stratford. It’s also one of the newest lines, as it only opened in 1979. Part of Jubilee Line’s route runs through Zone 1, meaning you can easily get to the West End, Tate Modern, Bond Street, and Westminster Bridge. But did you also know that there are some great places to visit that aren’t in Zone 1 via this route? In this post, I have listed 4 stations on the Jubilee Line that you must stop by that aren’t in Zone 1.

North Greenwich (Zone 2)

At number 1, its North Greenwich which is in Zone 2. I love the quirky design of the buildings here, which is thanks to the regeneration work that has been taking place here. This area is home to the o2 Arena, Emirates Air Line, Tide Park, and the ICON Outlet, each having something unique to offer. The ICON Outlet has loads of great shops to go to and places to eat. Meanwhile, The Tide Park is London’s first elevated park, and here, you can take some incredible photos of the Canary Wharf skyline.

As well as doing all these activities, make sure you take a ride on the Emirates Air Line cable cars across the Thames. For just £3.50 each way using contactless or your Oyster, you can see some awe- inspiring views, and landmarks such as the o2 Arena and Canary Wharf skyscrapers in their full glory. The best time to go is at night- time or sunset so you can have an unforgettable experience.

Canary Wharf (Zone 2)

Next up is Canary Wharf, which is located only one stop away from North Greenwich. This is home to the UK’s second largest financial district, where corporate offices for the Big 4, JP Morgan, Citi, and HSBC are located. Among the skyscrapers here, you can find the UK’s third tallest skyscraper here- Canada One.

As well as working here, Canary Wharf is a hub to do your shopping at, eat out, and live at too. You can read my review of when I went to Canary Wharf last Christmas here, as this is a great time to see all the Christmas decorations and skyscrapers up close at night.

Wembley Park (Zone 4)

This neighbourhood is one of the most diverse areas of London and is home to Wembley Stadium. Like North Greenwich, there has been loads of regeneration work taking place here, completely transforming the area. As well as the stadium, now the area is home to towering apartments, the London Designer Outlet, and other entertainment venues. For the latter, there is the SSE Arena, Boxpark, and the Troubadour Theatre.

At the LDO, you can find up to 70% off RRP… A visit to the LDO is not complete without going to the Nike Factory, Adidas store, and Haribo stores. As well as shopping, you can eat at some of the restaurants here including Pizza Express and Las Iguanas… Throughout the year, the LDO hosts events such as fireworks displays, Dirty Dancing, and the outdoor cinema.

Stratford (Zone 3)

This bustling hub deserves a lot more recognition than just being a terminal point on the Jubilee Line… Stratford was regenerated for the London 2012 Olympic Games, and it has completely transformed the area! For shopping and great places to eat, be sure to visit Westfields Stratford City. In the TK Maxx store, I saw some great deals on watches, including this £2000 one being sold for £700. But I warn you, the queues here are very long. And don’t forget to visit the most important store here- the Lego store!

Alternatively, the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is great if you’re looking for green spaces. It is situated very close to Westfields and another famous stadium- London Stadium. It is a great place to come with kids, as you can either walk around or cycle with the Santander bicycles. You can also buy tickets to go inside the ArcelorMittal Orbit slide aka The Jalebi Tower as it glows neon orange at night. If you don’t want to buy tickets, you can take some great photos of it from the outside instead.

Verdict

Overall, the Jubilee Line route stops by at some great places outside of Zone 1, with each of them having something unique and exciting to offer. At each of these places I have listed, you could easily spend hours at each one as there is so much to do… Are there any other places outside of Zone 1 you recommend visiting via the Jubilee Line? I would love to hear about them in the comments below.
