The Best Tube Stations Near Tower Bridge

While Bristol has the Clifton Suspension Bridge, Newcastle has the Tyne Bridge, and Shropshire has the Iron Bridge, London has Tower Bridge… Compared to seeing this bridge on promotional brochures, seeing it in real life is a true experience. Whether its taking photos, going for a walk, or relaxing there, there’s something here for everyone…

As well as going to see Tower Bridge, take the time to explore the other places of interest in the City of London.  The best way to sightsee is to get around on foot, so I’d recommend going to a Tube station further away. In this post, I’m going to recommend stations that are less than a 20- minute walk away…

Bank and Monument

Bank and Monument are actually two separate stations which have been linked together since 1993. Bank, which is named after the Bank of England, and Monument, after The Monument to The Great Fire of London. Though this is one of the busiest tube stations, it has also rated as one of the worst. I admit I don’t like having to walk from one station to the other, because of how long it takes to walk through the tunnels. So, let’s hope the upgrades to the station changes this…

Despite this, this station has got great links to other parts of Central London. You can get to Bank from Waterloo in under 5 minutes via the Waterloo & City Line. Plus, there are links to Canary Wharf via the DLR. So after you’ve been to see the City, you could go to see the London Eye or Canary Wharf.

Tower Hill Tube Station

Tower Hill takes you right outside the infamous Tower of London. It is served by the Circle and District Lines and is a short walk away from Tower Gateway (DLR Line) and Fenchurch Station. Though Tower Bridge is only a 10- minute walk away, don’t forget to take the time to see the Tower of London in its full glory.

Liverpool Street Station

From Liverpool Street, I enjoyed walking through the streets and seeing the combination of old and new architecture. It was almost like walking through time… The old buildings really impressed with, especially with the amount of detail in the carvings. It makes you wonder how much effort must’ve gone into them. To get to Tower Bridge, you need to walk towards London Bridge, and then you will arrive at the pier.

This station is one of the busiest in London, with connections to Cambridge and Eastern England. It is served by the Central, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan, and Circle lines, making it very well connected. In this area of the city, many offices are found here so it gave off strong professional vibes too.

London Bridge Station

If you don’t fancy walking down Liverpool Street to get to London Bridge, then there’s a station right next to it. If you want to take photos featuring both the skyline and Tower Bridge, then London Bridge is the perfect place to do this! And you may even be able to include the Canary Wharf skyline in your photo too. So long as its not a foggy day.

Plus, if you wanted to get a closer look at London’s skyscrapers, then the Walkie Talkie and Shard are only a short distance away. Don’t forget to go to The Walkie Talkie’s Sky Gardens to see breath taking views of London. However, if you can’t get into Sky Gardens then there’s always The Garden at 120.

If sightseeing isn’t your thing, don’t forget to check out the Borough Market too. There are lots of vendors here selling fresh food and beverages here. For anyone who has tasted anything from here, I’d love to hear about it in the comments below.
