Find A Great Bargain At Nicholsons in Maidenhead

Find A Great Bargain At Nicholsons in Maidenhead

Most towns have a shopping mall, and for Maidenhead, this is the Nicholsons Shopping Centre. Maidenhead is a small market town which is probably best known for being Theresa May’s constituency, where Three’s HQ is located, and for its links to London. And more recently, Maidenhead has been included on the new Elizabeth Line route and has been added to the Tube map.

Nicholsons is located on the high street and is approximately a 10- minute walk away from Maidenhead Station, so it is very easy to get to if you need to quickly pop in or want a quick snack. In my opinion, it’s not the greatest shopping mall I’ve been to, but it’s not the worst. So, I won’t be going on a shopping spree here anytime soon.

The high street is every bit a typical market town high street. You can find market stalls which sell fresh fruit here and other shops too such as M&S and Wilko. There’s also a few cafes if you want to relax inside and drink coffee or have breakfast. Again, not the most exciting high street, but it is nice coming here because of the relaxing scene. Especially at Christmas, when all the decorations are out.

Find some good bargains here

The shopping centre is quite small, but navigating your way through here can be like a maze. There is a good selection of mini independent and mini commercial stores here. In the middle of the mall, there’s a Starbucks with a seating area too. For clothes and shoes, you have the choice of H&M, Topshop, and Clarks. For accessories such as watches and luxury pens, there’s Ernest Jones. Other good shops to go to here include Craft Coop which sells products made by local artists, and Ryman, where you can find stationery for great prices. Plus, there are a few pound stores too.

If you look carefully in some of the shops, you can find some good bargains here. In the past, I have found a men’s shirt for £5 in H&M, and stationery for as little as 10p in Ryman’s clearance section. Ernest Jones also does a good range of sales items, such as discounted watches and Cross pens. One of my favourite sale items had to be the Cross Peerless Fonderie AK47 Pen. Sadly, I didn’t buy it though.

The Bad Points…

Firstly, there isn’t a whole lot to do here because there aren’t many shops here. No John Lewis, Fenwicks, or designer clothes brands here sadly. Secondly, it has a very old feel to it, so I think it’s in serious need of regeneration. But hopefully this old feeling won’t be the case for long as there are plans for a massive regeneration project: https://www.maidenhead-advertiser.co.uk/news/maidenhead/159016/plans-submitted-for-400million-nicholson-quarter-in-maidenhead-town-centre.html

Verdict

Overall, Nicholsons isn’t the most exciting shopping centre in my opinion. But hopefully, this could change with the regeneration. Nevertheless, I still recommend coming here as you could find a great bargain here, or you could come and relax at the Starbucks. If you’re in Maidenhead, as well as visiting Nicholsons, make sure you visit some of the parks here and Maidenhead Central Mosque.
